The Money Pit

Contractors call it boarding the Money Train. This can happen when clients are led a stray by consultants who are focused on their own self-interest and not that of their clients. When clients are led a stray from the original plan, the entire project becomes a change order and extra charge. Some homes are built twice or even three times before they're finished because no one on the project has a plan to build it right the second time. Contractors that say they don't need a plan to build a home probably can't read plans. We have a saying in construction, "Plan the build and build the plan." The most cost effective way to build is by having a complete plan, from the beginning, and build it right.
